Talk show hosts on such shows are not nearly as bad as the people that keep their shows on the air by watching them. Why? The people that watch such shows genuinely enjoy seeing other people suffer and go through and embarrass and degrade themselves while talk show hosts are merely trying to make a living like everyone else. Yes,they are wrong for doing that but to me they are less wrong than the people that keep them in business!!!!

Name calling is a sign of bad character but I think those with the worst character resort to it without provocation. It is better to admit that you are wrong when you cannot defend your position or positions than to try to distract your opponent in a debate by resorting to infantile name calling and personal attacks. The former shows character but the latter shows a lack of such.

I agree. I think both European and African men have shown comparable tendencies towards violent aggression throughout history with European men coming out on top obviously and that probably the least historically aggressive men are the Chinese. When Japan first attacked China it got massacred because the Chinese people were so non-violent and the Japanese were beasts. Of course,over time,that changed. Can you think of other examples of non-violent peoples?

Sounds good to me and I think the same could be said for most men of most races. I would go further and say that just because someone does not want you or think you are good enough for them it does not mean that is so. Some people are just stuck up or think way too much of themselves. God bless.

It’s simply a matter of history, CULTURE(how one defines oneself and its ppl in the world now, and in its goals and direction,). Whites situate their progress through the rivaly they define vs. each other, and the alien “other” (dark-skinned ppl around the world). @Atomank68 I think that the idea of the average black woman is constructed by all kinds of people of all genders and races. I think it is both negative and positive in some ways. For instance,my idea of the average black woman is a woman that will do anything to take care of her children. She is hard working. She may not possess the best command of the English language. She tends to be on the heavy side or at least a few pounds overweight,etc. Am I right? Maybe. Is it just my opinion? Yes!

@openmindedfemme I think that for most people what they consider to be average would be based on what they have seen or experienced personally and/or what they have seen or heard via the media. They could be wrong or they could be right but in the final analysis they most likely just have opinions that should either be taken or left but not be the source of one getting all worked up. I think it is better to work on one’s own issues than go around beating the living daylights out of others every chance one gets. People who spend an inordinate amount of time downing other people have serious unresolved issues and problems and need to focus on themselves more and possibly get professional help.

@Atomank68 I have watched all of those though not regularly but I think such shows and BET appeals to both men and women for various reasons I would rather not speculate on. However, I think that no one whether male or female in their right mind should watch Maury or Jerry because the shows are ridiculous. BET is another matter entirely though. I think anyone of either gender that is interested in learning about at least some aspects of black culture should watch BET at least sometimes.

@openmindedfemme It does not speak to my character but it does indicate the type of neighborhoods I have lived in or am living in. Predominantly black and premoninantly poor or some level of middle class. Our character is not defined by how well we speak or write or how much money we have or superficial things like that but by how we treat other people and ourselves.
