and is that weird should i care or my parents care should i be dating someone african american?

It shouldn’t matter at ALL if you’re parents aren’t ignorant. Race doesn’t matter at all. If you like him then good for you-regardless of race. It’s perfectly normal and frankly, no one cares if your guy is African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic-American, or Caucasian-American. All that matters is that you have a nice guy-race doesn’t even factor into anything.
