Though foreigners don’t get near the attention they used (excepting black rap enthusiasts), there are opportunities to do some healthy dating for the foreigner in Japan. It’s not going to be spontaneous, and it definitely isn’t like home (thank goodness) but if you put enough time and culture savvy into it, you’ll find it. That being said, don’t be a deusch bag.

Another thing: what about the Anglo guys that live in much more negative dating environment then the J-girls you describe. When I lived in Japan, there were Western guys that helped each other out, and Western guys that were little dweebs trying to dissuade their guilt at dating a sexual liberated, graceful J-lady–something back home told them was mysoginist, or something.

The confusion stems from ethnocentrism. Since Japan is traditional, we assume that it fits Western definitions. Tradition in Christian cultures means celibate, marriage-prone. In Japan it means honor and hierarchy. “Japanese women are dating for marriage?” joking? The average age of marriage in Japan in 30 plus. I’d gander less then half of women in Tokyo 20-35 are married. Sexuality, with the exception of fascist period, is pretty developed. I don’t think a fling with a foreigner dreads j-girls

This guy is not giving very accurate info. I would chock it up to ignorance except his other videos on the culture are pretty good. Instead, and this is common over there, you’re dealing with a white guy ashamed of his masculinity. There are many of these guys in the Anglo West who are taught this in our anti-male culture.
He’s lying for two reasons: one, he thinks he’s defending Japanese women from young men dastardly enough to express their sexuality. And he doesn’t want people in his sandbox

I have the utmost respect for this aussie dude because he’s totally honest about how foreign/western guys perceive Japanese girls when they go into Japan and putting them straight. Also speaks about Japanese girls in a realistic point of view/takes their approach towards foreign men seriously and understands them and he’s giving the best advice westerner guys would ever need before trying to get with a Japanese chick.

Hey! I am going to Japan in November so I thought I’d do some research. Delighted to have stumbled across your videos. You’re very easy to listen to. Probably the Ozzie accent. Anyway, this video made so much sense. I have met loads of Japanese girls while travelling (in a friend capacity) and you are right, they came across so warm and friendly. It was quite refreshing and it’s easy to think – I’m in!! But it’s not the case. They are just being friendly I guess.
