I’m dating a professional single dad in his early 40s. Every now and then, he plays poker (for money) with his friends. Once a year they have a poker tournament at which about 40 people attend. I’m not sure how often he plays or what it really involves. Any reason to be alarmed? How can I ask more questions with seeming like I’m alarmed?
No harm in asking him the questions.

March 13, 2011 | 1 Comment
In the past, going to college for 6 years, I always dated the co-eds and that type around campus. However, in the past year or so (since last spring) I have realized that there is little in common with them and I would like to try dating someone who’s finished with school/a young professional. I’m going to be 27 and I have a professional career that I’ll be starting in a few months in healthcare adminstration. The thing is, too, I am kind of intimidated by this exact type of girl since I always dated "ms. wild and crazy." I want someone stable, mature, responsible, that I could possibly have a normal, and/or long lasting relationship but I don’t know how to start really. Advice?
First off, congratulations, you’ve grown up and taken a solid step towards a more mature future!
Now, there’s no real transition step to go from dating the party type to the young professional type. You simply seek out someone of that type that you are interested in and give it your best shot. I think the only real issue here is your being a bit intimidated.
Chances are, you’ll be looking at someone your own age and girls at your age are looking for the very same that you are – someone stable, mature, responsible and with whom they could have a real relationship. So start slow, and after getting to know a good girl who is interested in you too better, let her know what you’re looking for. Don’t hold onto your preconceived notions that young professional women are intimidating!

Dating or attracting women as hot as Megan Fox, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Alba are might seem unlikely for most ordinary men. Approaching beautiful women like these “hotties” is usually avoided as they are generally seen as unapproachable according to several recent studies on the interaction of men and women in social situations. This phenomenon is the focus of a free, giveaway dating eBook put out by a new dating site, entitled ‘Casanova System’, in which the authors outline what many unsuccessful Romeos are doing wrong and which can explain why they have bad luck in initiating relationships and in dating. The key ingredient they cite is ‘social proof’.
