African American women, how do you feel about dating non-African American men?

October 18, 2009 | 2 Comments

Many studies have been carried out to illustrate that the abundance of single African American women is due to African American women being ruluctant to interracial dating. Do some women really feel that they should only date African American men just because they are African American. Is that prejudiced? (It is but I would love to hear someone try and justify it regardless to get outside thoughts on the matter) If you’re not open to dating outside of your race why? If you are, why?

I would do it but I actually was never approached by a guy of a different race. I never really cared. I have dated mixed guys though. It does not matter if they treat me right love has no color.

My Perspective On Black Men Dating Other Races Pt. 3

October 16, 2009 | 25 Comments

This is part 3 of the author’s perspective on the series Why Black Men Are Dating Other Races. This video was made to explain the author’s purpose in doing the series and clear up the general misconception of general issues raised in the previous 5 parts of the series.

Interracial dating is defined as marriage or sexual relations between individuals of different races.

According to the U.S. Census, in 2000 there were 1,432,908 Hispanic Origin-white marriages.[18] , 504,119 Asian-white marriages, 287,576 black-white marriages, 97,822 Hispanic Origin-black marriages, 40,317 Asian-Hispanic Origin[19] marriages, and 31,271 Asian-black marriages.

Today the vast majority of African-Americans possess varying degrees of European and Native American admixture; some estimates put average African-American possession of European admixture at 25% with figures as high as 50% in the Northeast and less than 10% in the south. A recent study by Mark D. Shriver of a European-American sample found that the average admixture in the white population is 0.7% African and 3.2% Native American. However, 70% of the sample had no African admixture. The other 30% had African admixture ranging from 2% to 20% with an average of 2.3%. By extrapolating these figures to the whole population some scholars suggest that up to 74 million European-Americans may have African admixture in the same range (2-20%)

America’s Next Top Model: Tyra Looks for Mr. Right

October 16, 2009 | Leave a Comment

America’s Next Top Model’s Tyra Banks is in the quest to find her one true love, her soul mate! Despite having a number of failed relationships in the past, like with Chris Webber, John Signleton, Giancarlo Marcaccini, Seal, Craig Taylor and Tyler Perry, Banks’ perspective in the field of dating remains to be positive. Having a fiercely determined attitude towards finding Mr. Right also helps in framing her mind-set towards her love life goal.

Banks, a 33-year old African American former super model, was previously known for being one of the original Victoria’s Secret Angels. She escalated to stardom when she graced the cover of Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue.

Also known as an author, an executive producer, and a movie actress, she now stars and is a judge on the reality television show America’s Next Top Model and is a host of her own talk show called The Tyra Banks Show.

The successful celebrity also stands by her belief that her search for her ideal man is not someone she wants based on needs, stressing on the importance of being independent, a subject matter she often exemplifies on the show America’s Next Top Model. Moreover, she emphasizes her exploration for Mr. Right as something based on her want and desire.

During America’s Next Top Model cycle 7, she went through such a hard time dealing with her heartbreak, painfully admitting her disappointment and emotional damage. But her past experiences, being through a string of unfortunate relationships, made her a stronger person and has given her much wisdom in dealing with the affairs of the heart. And after much drama, her grasp over her relationship dilemmas has become lucid and clear. She adds, “You look back at the person you were crying over and realize they were never meant to be the one.”
