When I came to this country, I was shocked that all the hatred and animosity was coming from other Blacks. Black Americans don’t really give Africans a chance. So naturally, since most of us want to get educated, and they don’t like us, we just stay away from them.
Lets be honest, why would I come all the way from Africa for better opportunity, and then try to fit into a destructive culture? Especially when that same culture shuns me for being different.

Both went to college, one an Ivy League grad, & both ended up messed up after learning from Black Americans with a “certain” mentality to think of themselves as slaves who would always be hopelessly oppressed by the White man. Oftentimes Black Americans do make foreign-born Blacks feel like outsiders…especially Africans. Not all, but many. He/she simply embraced his/her outsider status and learned the benefits of not being apart of the “Black American community.” No offense, but this “community” IS unhealthy.

This is why I stay away from Black Americans. I don’t go near any area that is considered Ghetto. I came to this country for a better life from Africa, not to part of this craziness. Growing up, I think I was lucky most considered me an outsider because of my accent and culture. I am lucky for this. Otherwise, I probably would be a statistic nor would I be in medical school.

We have the knowledge. I think the problem is LACK OF SELF RESPECT and SELF WORTH. Promiscuity is the result of this lack of self-worth. Lack of confidence causes us not to ask our partners to use a condom.
