If you were really interested in a girl and you really liked her and you wanted to ask her out, would you change your mind if you found out she wanted to stay a virgin until marriage? (That includes no bjs and no fingering and no groping or anything – other than kissing) Would you still date her or would you change your mind and just stay friends? Why do some black women give up on black men by choosing to remain lonely or dating white men?

We black women have a reputation for displaying unyielding support and loyalty for black men. I understand it gets frustrating because a lot of the good black men are already taken, gay or dating white women, but there are still other black men. Personally, I don’t understand why some black women act superficial when they say they don’t want to date a thug, drug dealer etc. I’m not saying that we have to settle for that. But shouldn’t we just be the strong black women that we are and educate our brothers and shape them into being good men? I don’t have a problem with a black woman’s decision to be single or to date outside their race. The only time I DO have a problem with it is when they give up and whine and cry about how most black men are no good.
Take my boyfriend for example. I’m 39 and he’s 24. He has been in prison prior to meeting me. He does have a thug-like appearance but he’s very intelligent. Throughout our relationship he has cheated on me, hit me and lied to me. But I’m strong enough to work with him and I’m TELLING YOU he’s getting a lot better. Unless a black woman has a GENUINE desire to date white men or to be single, I think they should give the "in need of repair" black men a chance. They say you can’t change people, but yes you can with time and effort.
I chose not to be single. i’ve had many relationships that I’ve given up on and i’m NOT giving up on this one. I’m not attracted to white men, so I don’t date them. If I was delusional enough to sit around and wait for the "Black Prince Charming" to rescue me, that’s all I’d be doing. Waiting and waiting and waiting and wasting my life away.
So, why do black women use the "bad" black men as excuse to date outside their race or to remain single and unhappy? Again, let me say that I only support black women dating white men when it’s the only kind of man she’s attracted to. Other than that, it’s bullshyt. Sorry.
Personally, I choose to stay single until i meet someone that meets my standards, regardless of their race. Why should I settle for less, knowing I deserve better? In reality there are plenty of black men that are well worth the wait.
Honestly, if I was in your shoes, I would never stick with a man that did all that to me, ESPECIALLY not hit me. That is never O.K. in any relationship. No one deserves any of that.
